Everyone loves a good romance story. And that is how Charles Wells' brewery began. In the 1870's, Charles Wells arrived back in Bedford England after twenty years at sea and fell in love with Josephine Grimbley. Since her father would not approve of her marrying a sea-faring man he decided to settle down and bought a brewery and thirty-two pubs at auction. He grew the business into a thriving family company which generations ahead continued to grow.
